  1. Re: HOWTO: Setup a left-handed external mouse from the command-line

Nice find, but how do you specify if it changes on your external or internal mouse? If I remember correctly, xmodmap would only change my internal mouse's buttons.

Re: A bash daemon script problem

I don't have an /etc/inittab file, and "man inittab" returns "No manual entry for inittab". I'm going to try it anyways and hope it works, but why would I be missing the man page?

Re: A bash daemon script problem

This "inittab" thing intrigues me. There is a program I use, xbindkeys, which already has a daemon mode. However, every so often it segfaults and I have to restart it manually. Will I be able to set...
  4. Re: How to get involved with open-source projects?

Alright, excellent. I'm going to start off on learning C++, and in the meantime look at simple, common UNIX programs. If I end up liking C more than C++, I'll switch to GTK+. Thanks for pointing me...
  5. Re: Creating a 'macro' to load your prefered development enviroment

You could also take a look at a program called "wmctrl" if you want to position etc. windows.
  6. Re: How to get involved with open-source projects?

This is one of the problems; I've looked at the source of a few projects, and I can't even seem to locate main. There are a lot of library and header files linked together, and I'm not sure where to...
  7. How to get involved with open-source projects?

I'm sorry if this kind of discussion has already taken place on the board; I've searched around a bit but didn't find anything relevant. I had assumed that a topic like this would've been stickied,...

Re: HOWTO: Speed up firefox browsing

They didn't exist for me in Feisty either.

Re: Easy Way to make Symlinks in Nautilus

You can also click and drag it with the middle-click button. That's one of the things that I miss most about GNOME when using Konqueror.

    Re: Firefox Widgets

Looks really nice, but is there any way to customize what you want to change? For example, I love the radio buttons and checkboxes, but prefer the default 'Buttons'.

Re: HOWTO: Automating Gnome with Devil's Pie

Yeah, I couldn't get the GIMP to work properly either, I think it had the same problems that you guys are describing above. Anyways, somebody at the Devil's Pie wiki suggested this: I havn't tried...

Re: How-to install w32codecs the easy way

I think that the PLF repository has moved to:

    # PLF Repository
    deb http://medibuntu.sos-sts.com/repo/ edgy free non-free

So you may want to put that in your sorces.list, update and then try...

    Re: KxDocker configure how-to

I don't think that it's a Compiz thing. The new version of KXDocker has support for a composite window manager (and it does work in Beryl), but the sie says that it should also support fake...

Re: HOWTO: Install latest intel modesetting driver.

All I can think of is try again, and make sure you have internet access.

So is there any way of knowing which driver I'm running? I don't think that the install worked, but it might have. It...

Re: An Aquatic Desktop - Neat Eye Candy

Yeah, I thought that was happening on my computer as well.

Actually, this program has no effect unless the desktop is actually visible. Run the the command, and then minimize all your windows.

  18. Re: HOWTO: General mouse customization, including double click

It should work if you use xte (from xautomation) for sending events. xvkbd might have some problems with it.
  19. Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

I would advise getting xautomation from the repositories, since it has a much more reliable key faking program. xvkbd doesn't work very well with modifier keys. Use your side button (e.g. button 8)...
  20. Re: HOWTO: General mouse customization, including double click

I've been a little busy recently, but I basically decided to give up the idea of application specific settings. Although I know that it should be possible, I can't find any program that will get the...
  21. Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

I've encountered a few more problems in my ever-continuing quest to tweak my mouse to perfection. I suppose that these don't exactly apply to this thread as such, but I think some people could find...
  22. Re: HOWTO: General mouse customization, including double click

I may look into updating the wiki, but before that I want to configure it to perfection and I'm unfortunately still a couple of steps off. I'm not going to be able to figure these things on my own...
  23. Re: HOWTO: General mouse customization, including double click

Unfortunately the cruise button doesn't work...
  24. Re: HOWTO: General mouse customization, including double click

Can you possible explain how to do this, or even how to begin? I want to somehow set up xbindkeys to make it so that holding down Button 8 will continuously scroll down (Button 5). Unfortunately, I...
  25. Re: HOWTO: Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06: New Guide

What do you mean that xserver keeps crashing? How do you know it keeps crashing and does it give you any error message?

You might want to try replacing
    Option "SendCoreEvents" "True"

    with...
